Darrell Holley, Managing Principal

  • Prior to forming Westwood, Darrell served as Managing Director and Global Head of Oil & Gas/Head of North American Natural Resources for ABN AMRO Bank - responsible for establishing, building, and overseeing ABN AMRO’s Oil and Gas related banking activities, development of associated products and services, and its Dallas, Texas office. The platform grew from a start-up in 2012 to an $7 billion portfolio focusing on the North American Upstream, Midstream, Renewables, Utilities and Services sectors.  Darrell was also a member of the US Country Management Team which oversaw ABN AMRO’s US operations. Prior to joining ABN AMRO, Darrell was an MD and Global Head of Energy Finance at UBS Investment Bank, where he spent three years overseeing the bank’s energy finance business, including supporting and developing product functions to grow UBS's established Energy Investment Banking platform and Equity/Debt Capital Markets business.

    Before coming to UBS, Darrell spent 15 years at Fortis Bank (formerly MeesPierson Capital) where most recently he served as Managing Director and Global Head for Fortis Bank’s Oil and Gas business.  While at Fortis, Darrell grew and developed the bank’s oil and gas platform from its inception to a $12 billion portfolio with clients throughout the U.S., Canada, Latin America, West Africa, Europe and the Pacific Rim. 

    At Fortis, Darrell was also a member of the country management team and was responsible for its US Private Equity/Fund Investment business. Darrell began his banking career in 1988 at Chemical Bank/Texas Commerce Bank where he served as a VP in Chemical Securities Global Energy Finance group – focusing on upstream and midstream activities.  Darrell is a graduate of Texas A&M University with degrees in Finance and Accounting.

 

Carlos Garza, Managing Director

  • He has more than eleven years of experience in investment banking, advising natural resources companies in M&A, equity capital markets and leveraged finance transactions. 

    Throughout his career in banking, Mr. Garza has covered companies across the energy value chain.  Prior to joining Westwood, he was the Head of Corporate Finance and M&A group at ABN AMRO in New York, with a sector focus on oil and gas.  From 2015 to 2019, Mr. Garza was a Vice President in the Leveraged Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions groups at Goldman Sachs, covering clients in the oil and gas upstream, midstream and services sectors.  Between 2010 and 2015, he worked in the Natural Resources M&A group at Barclays.  Prior to his career in investment banking, Mr. Garza was a management consultant for oil and gas, telecommunications and consumer goods companies in Mexico and Brazil at McKinsey & Company.

    Mr. Garza received his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico and his M.B.A. from the The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

 

Jordan Hart, Senior Associate

  • Prior to Westwood, Mr. Hart was an Associate within ABN AMRO’s Global Oil and Gas Coverage Group, which he joined in 2018. Mr. Hart’s responsibilities included underwriting transactions within the upstream and midstream sectors, as well as, assisting in the management of ABN AMRO’s Oil & Gas loan portfolio and client relationships.

    Prior to ABN AMRO, Mr. Hart was an Analyst at Capstone Partners (a Mizuho company), an investment bank focused on private placements for first-time and middle-market private equity funds. While at Capstone Partners, Mr. Hart’s responsibilities included creating fund marketing materials and fund-level cash flow models, as well as, responding to due diligence requests from existing and prospective Limited Partners. Mr. Hart graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Davidson College.

 

Mark McCoy, Senior Associate

  • Prior to joining Westwood, Mark was an associate on ABN AMRO’s Corporate Finance and M&A team with a focus on energy. Prior to his finance career, Mark gained valuable technical knowledge of the oil and gas industry while working as an engineer for a consulting group. Mark designed drilling and completion programs in the office and would then implement those designs while working as an onsite company man.

    Mark received his B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Oklahoma and his M.B.A. from The Southern Methodist University.
